What is Crimestoppers?
Five Valley Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization operated by a
Board of Directors, made up of citizens who share one thing in common:
they want to live in a community that's as safe and secure as possible.
That's why they're donating their time and effort in the fight against
crime.
How Does It Work?
FVCS follows the guidelines and directions set out by Crime Stoppers International
in its day-to-day operation. Our toll-free tips lines (721-4444 / 363-0062)
are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, taking completely anonymous
tips on any criminal activity.
An essential part of the Crimestoppers program is the guaranteed
anonymity of people who provide information. Each caller is assigned a
number when calling in--in most cases, the caller's identity is not known
to the volunteer who answers the call. The informant is told to call back
at a specifice time to learn if s/he has earned a reward. The Crimestoppers
Board of Directors decides which tips receive rewards.
The name of the informant is not revealed unless he/she
testifies at a trial, in which case, the caller's identity would become
public knowledge.
